Many Hong Kong cards charge no annual fee at all, and some fee-paying cards waive it on request. Compare the interest rate, late charge and foreign currency fee as well.
No annual fee cards are common in Hong Kong, and many of them still earn cashback or points. On fee-paying cards, banks often waive the annual fee if you ask, but that is at their discretion.
The trade-offs
Cards without a fee tend to have fewer travel benefits, such as lounge visits or travel insurance. Interest and late charges still apply, so compare those too. Many no-fee cards still pay cashback or points.
Each bank sets its own minimum annual income to hold a card, so check it before you apply. We show each card's figure where the bank publishes one.
